Pigs were originally introduced to Australia by the First Fleet in 1788 for food and soon escaped, establishing wild populations all over the country but are particularly prolific in the Northern Territory, Queensland and New South Wales. They are among Australia’s most widespread and damaging pest animals, contributing to the spread of invasive plants and diseases, damage to crops and livestock including native species as well as degrading soil and water.
Wild boar are generally shy and nocturnal although they can be active anytime of the day. The enormous tusks that protrude from the boars’ lower jaw are the trademark of the wild boar and make for an impressive trophy. The tusks are used dig and root for food as well as fending off predators and fighting other boars.
Wild Boar hunts will be accompanied by a professional guide and will be a stalk style hunt. Your guide will carry all necessary safety equipment including a GPS and first aid kit as well as a backup firearm.
